cherita by christine l. villa
Such Tenderness
moonlight twines around the bedpost
the way he takes off my shoe
that lingering gaze
*
in the cottoned dark our bodies bump and touch
twirling my hair
he whispers, is it peony or freesia scent?
*
reaching the stars with butterfly kisses
the night dissolves
my breath behind him his hand holding mine close to his chest
*
the morning after two shadows giggling inside a shower stall
a drawn heart on the steamy mirror
drips of water onto the bed
*
waiting for him
I hear his high-pitched humming from the bathroom
what is taking you so long?
behind the door, I peek my towel drops on the floor
*
qualmish
I catch him tracing his lips with my red lipstick
all the tenderness a big question mark
