Angelina Esperanza Diana is a second-generation Puerto Rican-Italian American residing in Elgin, IL. Her work is an exploration of self and reflections of her outside world. Often meditating on personal history and the complexities of environments' role in cultivating one's identity, her paintings are vibrant, expressive, and intuitively executed. Starting with a gestural foundation of transparent color, shapes and form, she then builds upon these layers prior to sealing the experience in a layer of epoxy resin. The combination of materials preserves and showcases each contributing element to the painting between layers. Resulting in imagery that’s in a state of constant motion and progression, reminiscent of nature, and personal growth.
